1. Spelling: Complete definitions and Wordly Wise 9A: Finding Meanings. B. Write sentences using 5 of your spelling words in a way that show you understand the meanings of the words. Circle the subject & underline the predicate.
2. Math: Use TIPS and complete problems 1-3 on DK Problem Solving Applications. Show ALL of your work.
3. Language Arts: A. Complete Homophones Activity 1 and Activity 2 B. Choose three sets of homophones and write compound sentences explaining the difference between them. Underline the homophones. Example: A knight was a medieval soldier, while night is the opposite of day.
4. Science: Work on Microbes: Helpful or Harmful (Microbe Scavenger Hunt). Due Wednesday.
5. Reading: Read for twenty minutes.
Tuesday, Oct. 14
1. Spelling: Complete Wordly Wise 9B: Just the Right Word. B. Write sentences using 5 different spelling words in a way that show you understand the meanings of the words. Circle the subject of the sentence and underline the predicate.
2. Math: Read the information for Lesson 3.3: Segments, Lengths, and Collinear Points and complete the problems.
3. Language Arts: A. Complete Homophones Activity 3 and Activity 4. B. Identify and copy 4 simple sentences & 4 compound sentences from a book you are reading (or have already read). Be sure to identify the book and page number where you found the examples.
4. Science: Complete Microbes: Helpful or Harmful.
5. Reading: Read for twenty minutes.
Wednesday, Oct. 15
1. Spelling/Vocabulary: Complete Wordly Wise 9C: Applying Meanings & 9D: Word Study. B. Write sentences using the last 5 of your spelling words in a way that show you understand the meanings of the words. Circle the subject of the sentence and underline the predicate.
2. Math: Complete Lesson 3.3: Measuring the Parts
3. Language Arts: A. Complete Homophones Activity 5. B. Write 5 compound or complex sentences using 5 different conjunctions (FANBOYS - for, and, nor, but, or, yet, so).
5. Reading: Read for twenty minutes.
Thursday, Oct. 16
1. Spelling/Vocabulary: Use syllabication to create 3 spelling pyramids for the Wordly Wise 9 words and study for your spelling test. (Remember, you must also know definitions.)
2. Math: Complete Lesson 3.4: Points, Lines, and Angles
3. Language Arts: Complete final draft of your writing notebook assignment, if necessary.
4. Reading: Write a 1-2 paragraph summary describing what you’ve been reading during your home reading times and a 1-2 paragraph response to your reading. (For example: What did you think about the text you’re reading? or How did it make you feel? Can you make any connections between what you read and your life to another book, movie, or TV show, or to anything else you’re familiar with?) You should include the title and author of your text, what the book, article, etc. is about, and some specifics about what you read this week.
Weekend: Oct. 18-19
Reading: Read for twenty minutes each day.
Math: Complete Lesson 3.2: Solving Place Value Puzzles (Students will receive this on Friday.)
