Dear Parents,
Just a few reminders:
As you know, this week and next week are testing weeks. Students in 1st, 3rd, 5th, and 8th grades will be taking CogAT tests on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday of this week. (5th grade testing is on Wednesday & Thursday only.) All grade levels will be taking the Iowa Test of Basic Skills next week, with testing scheduled from Monday through Friday. The office has asked us to let you know that because of testing regulations, “…no parents are allowed in the building during testing.”
In addition, the Picture Day that was scheduled for tomorrow has been cancelled due to testing. We will notify you once Picture Day has been rescheduled.
We’ve also been asked to remind you that this week is the last week to apply for free or reduced lunch. Applications for free and reduced lunch must be turned in by tomorrow (Wednesday, Sept. 17). Please call the office if you need more information.
For those who purchase school lunch for their students, payment for October’s lunches must be made by this Friday, Sept. 19.
Again, please feel free to contact the office (or me) if you have any questions.
Regards,
Mrs. Pede
(Copies of this letter are being sent home with students tomorrow.)

Dear Parents,
I won’t be giving a lot of homework from now until Intercession because ~ as you know ~ we have testing two days this week and allof next week ( Sept. 22-26). However, I do want to remind all the students to continue working on their Civil War Scrapbooks, which are due Friday, Oct. 10 (after Intercession). (Scrapbook details & instructions were given to students this past Tuesday, Sept. 9.)
We’ll be wrapping up our novel study of Maniac Magee, and an open-book test will be given Tuesday, Sept. 16.
We’ll also be finishing up our unit on Causes of the Civil War, and the unit test will be this Friday, Sept. 19. The test will also include questions about information from our brief economics unit. A study guide for both sections of the test is included in this homework packet. (The Social Studies was scheduled for Friday as there are no standardized tests scheduled for that day.)
