Dear Parents

Thank you for your thoughts, prayers, and support last week. I especially want to commend our students for their behavior. I heard good reports from everyone I spoke to.

I also want to mention that Math HW will be added as I begin to assess what the students did last week. (Some of this week’s homework may also be revised I’ll let the students know if I decide to change the assignments and post it on our blog, as well.)

Please be sure to sign and return the students’ report cards ASAP.

Small group math tutoring resumes this Tuesday from 3:45 – 4:45 p.m. for those students who would like extra help. (Unless your student is in ASP, please be sure to pick him/her up from tutoring by 4:50 as all staff must exit the building at 5:00 p.m., at which time the building will be locked.)

This Week's Homework - Oct. 20-24

MONDAY
1. Spelling: A. Complete definitions for this week’s spelling words. (Words w/ suffixes –able, -ible, -ance, -ence.) B. Write sentences using 5 of your spelling words in a way that show you understand the meanings of the words. Circle the subject & underline the predicate.
2. Math: Complete Math Boxes on pg. 59 (SMJ). On a separate sheet of paper, write the definitions of acute, right, obtuse, straight, and reflex angles and draw an example of each one.
3. Language Arts: Complete Sentence Fragments (pg. 14).
4. Reading: Read for twenty minutes.

TUESDAY
1. Spelling:
A. Complete the –able, -ible, -ance, -ence Word Search and one other activity from the Spelling Activities list. B. Write sentences using 5 different spelling words in a way that show you understand the meanings of the words. Circle the subject of the sentence and underline the predicate.
2. Math: Complete all problems (#1-16)-- Angle Measures (Study Link 3.4).
3. Language Arts: Complete Clauses - Part A.
4. Reading: Read for twenty minutes.

WEDNESDAY
1. Spelling/Vocabulary: A. Write the spelling words and a synonym (a word that has the same meaning) or a phrase with the same meaning for each word. Use a Thesaurus! B. Write sentences using the last 5 of your spelling words in a way that show you understand the meanings of the words. Circle the subject of the sentence and underline the predicate.
2. Math:Complete Scott Foresman/Addison Wesley problems 1-11 & 15-16. 3. Language Arts: Complete Clauses - Part B.
4. Reading: Read for twenty minutes.

THURSDAY
1. Spelling/Vocabulary: Use syllabication to create 3 spelling pyramids for this week’s words and study for your spelling test. (Remember, you must also know definitions.)
2. Math: ___________________________________
3. Language Arts: A. Complete Run-on Sentences (pg. 23). B. Complete final draft of your writing notebook assignment, if necessary.
4. Reading: Write a 1-2 paragraph summary describing what you’ve been reading during your home reading times and a 1-2 paragraph response to your reading. (For example: What did you think about the text you’re reading? or How did it make you feel? Can you make any connections between what you read and your life to another book, movie, or TV show, or to anything else you’re familiar with?) You should include the title and author of your text, what the book, article, etc. is about, and some specifics about what you read this week.

WEEKEND
1. Reading:
Read for twenty minutes each day.
2. Math: Problem Solving Skill: Multiple Step Problems
