Holiday notes ~

First & foremost, have a fantastic Thanksgiving and holiday break!

Second, don't forget that book reports are due on Monday, Dec. 1 ~ the day we return to school.
The due date for the Classification of Living Things flipbooks has been moved to Wednesday, Dec. 3.

Finally, make-up assignment packets went home today with the students who needed them.

See you in a week!

Thank you!

My deepest gratitude to all of you who contributed to making our Thanksgiving feast such a huge success ~ whether you sent food, helped set up, serve, clean up, or all of the above! The students had a wonderful time!

Thanksgiving Feast

It looks like our feast is on. Several parents contacted me today and said they would bring food. So far, the only items I'm fairly sure are being sent are macaroni & cheese, cupcakes, desserts, and drinks. One parent has volunteered to send in several dishes, but didn't specify. Anything you can supply to help feed 24 hungry students and assorted parents would be appreciate.

Thank you,

Mrs. Pede

Updates ~

1. Please note the updates to this week's math homework.

2. (Sent via email earlier this evening) Due to the lack of parental response to the 5th grade Thanksgiving feast, we will not be able to have a team wide celebration as we don't believe there will be enough food for all students and parents who may attend.

We could still have a celebration for our class if enough of you can volunteer to contribute food and supplies. Since we will not be working with the other classes, we will need meats or main dishes, side dishes, desserts, drinks, & paper products. Please let me know by tomorrow if you are interested in taking part in this event.

Thanks ~

Mrs. Pede

Math Tutoring Cancelled for Tuesday, Nov. 18

Dear Parents ~

Can you believe the holiday season is already upon us? This year is just flying by! I know the students are going to enjoy being out of school next week as we celebrate Thanksgiving. However, please note that students are being given homework to complete over the next week’s break.

Now, for a few more reminders and a news flash (which many of you have already received via email).

First, the new dismissal procedures are working very effectively. The cars are moving through the pick-up line very quickly, although there was a back-up Friday because of the rain. Because this procedure has cut the time it takes to pick up students, dismissal is now officially over at 3:30 p.m. Students who are not picked up by 3:30 are being sent to ASP (and I believe there is a fee of $15 for each day students have to be sent to the program).

Second, picture retake day is Friday, Nov. 21, so don’t forget to send in your payment if you want to purchase a portrait packet.

Third, although there was no signature line on the Progress Reports that went home on Friday, I’d appreciate if you would sign them and send them back ~ or send or email a note stating that you’ve received your student’s report.

Finally, the 5th Grade team will be celebrating Thanksgiving with a team feast this Friday and our class is responsible for bringing side dishes to accompany the meats Ms. Mac's students are contributing and the desserts Ms. Taylor's class will be bringing. The feast will be held in our classrooms and is scheduled to begin at 12:30 (which is our regular lunch time). You are all welcome to join us and have lunch with your student. (So be sure to send enough food!).

Working together for student success,
Mrs. Pede
