Dear Parents,

First, my apologies for the tardiness in posting the blog. There appeared to be some imcompatibility between this site and my computer as every time I tried to publish, it wouldn't accept the text due to unrecognized "HTML errors."

Quick Reminders:

Spelling Bee: The classroom & grade level Spelling Bees are scheduled for this Friday, Jan. 16. Words were sent home with interested students on Friday. The word list is posted in the column to the right. The 5th grade spelling champ will receive a prize of either a Borders gift card or payment of the remainder of their cost for the Jekyll Island field trip.

CRCT Prep: The 5th grade team is encouraging the purchase of the Buckle Down math and reading CRCT Prep books. The cost is $10.00 per book. We will be doing a group purchase of the books next week. Please send $20 to us by next Tuesday if you are interested in purchasing these books for your student.

Math tutoring is now on Thursdays, from 3:45-4:45.

MLK Holiday — next Monday, Jan. 20.

One final note: We will begin a class novel study of the book Bud, Not Buddy next month (Monday, Feb. 2). Please begin planning to check the book out of a library or purchasing it from a bookstore. (ALL of the students will need a copy of the book, so please let me know if you have problems getting it.) In addition, this novel study will replace the individual book report due on Feb. 20.
