First, let me apologize for not updating or posting the homework assignments for the latter part of last week. I'll endeavor to keep everything up-to-date this week.
This first quarter is rolling by quickly! Our first Intercession is only three-weeks away (Sept. 29-Oct. 3)! During these final three weeks we’ll be finishing up our Maniac Magee novel study and beginning a major Civil War project. (Project details and the rubric will go home later this week.) In Language Arts, we’ll continue reviewing basic grammar (sentence construction, punctuation, etc.). We’ll also continue working on our persuasive writing skills.
In Math, students are being introduced (or becoming reacquainted with) different algorithms for addition, subtraction, and multiplication. They will also be reviewing skills and strategies for solving number stories (word problems). In addition, we’ll be learning how to use statistical landmarks ~ mean, median, minimum, maximum, etc. ~ to analyze data.
In addition to their regular instruction, students are scheduled to take the Iowa Test of Basic Skills (ITBS) in two weeks (Sept. 22-26).
Working together for student success...
